Scorecard
Description:
#17 presents a SEVERE dogleg right. There are two sizable ponds left and right, numerous trees that narrow your potential angles to attack the hole, and many decisions to make from tee to green.
How to Play It:
It will take two accurate shots to play this hole successfully, with the ponds, trees, and a severely elevated green to contend with. Your tee shot, usually a long iron/hybrid, must carry a pond to give you a higher percentage of success reaching the green. Go too far and your ball will roll through the fairway, leaving you tree obstructions, on a hill, or in the brush. An ideal tee shot would shape left to right, and inside the 150 yard stake, visible from the tee. The approach plays at least a club longer to the elevated green. Bunkers will gobble up short approaches, while the green is guarded left and right with trees and brush. Higher handicaps and/or errant tee shots should consider laying up to a comfortable yardage for a high-lofted and higher percentage 3rd shot. This green also features many subtle breaks, turning many two-foot putts into another challenge!
