Description: |
Formerly the 3rd hole of the original nine holes, #14 is one of the more memorable holes at FRCC. A visually imposing hill greets you from the tee, but the landing area is wide, flat, and forgiving. The only significant trouble off the tee would be short of the hill, or way left.
The green is quite unique, with a mostly flat upper portion giving way to a serious downward slope that is almost bowl-like. A bunkers resides short of the green on the right, and along the left left side. |
|
How to Play It: |
The wide landing area allows for an aggressive swing, leaving most no more than a mid to short iron approach. You can miss well right and still have a shot at the green, but errant tee shots left will often kick further left into high grass and uneven lies. The ideal drive would favor the left side, opening up your approach angle and mitigating the bunker on the right.
Unless the pin is up front, take a half club less and allow the bowl shaped green to funnel your shot toward the green's center. Do not hit your approach long, as there is no room to miss over the green.
A little luck and a steady putter has a good opportunity at a birdie! |
